La Pobla de Segur will reduce energy consumption by 70% thanks to the DUS5000 project

This April, all the actions planned within the DUS5000 program, part of the Next Generation European funds managed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, were completed. The project, which had a total cost of €1,043,988, consisted of four measures:

Rehabilitation of Casa Mauri:

In the modernist building that houses the City Hall offices, the roof has been renovated and the windows and other closing elements have been replaced to optimize thermal consumption. All lighting fixtures have also been updated to minimize energy consumption.

Installation of photovoltaic panels

The photovoltaic panels installed on the roof of the Els Raiers School will spply energy to six municipal facilities: the Town Hall, the Els Raiers School, the brigade warehouse, the Library, the Bressol School, and the Sports Hall. The consumption of this generated solar energy is accounted for at 80%. The remaining 20% will be allocated to an energy community.

Two biomass boilers

The renewable thermal generation facility and heating and cooling networks, powered by two biomass boilers fuelled by forest matches, will supply clean energy for the heating and/or cooling networks of Casa Mauri, the Moli de l’Oli, the Els Raiers School, and the Nostra Senyora de Ribera Residence.

Two electric vehicles

Thank to this project, the municipal brigade van and the police vehicle, which run on fossil fuels, have been replaced with two electric vehicles. This project will result in cost and energy savings of around 80%.
